One of the most urgent situations that nurses face is cardiac arrest. Knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is necessary for survival after nosocomial or community-acquired cardiac arrest. The two main factors determining survival after cardiopulmonary arrest are the immediate initiation of CPR and early activation of the survival chain.
